It's Hayden Panetti-hair! Nashville star's new purple-tipped locks take on a life of their own as she steps out in blustery NYC

She usually looks perfectly coiffed, but Hayden Panettiere couldn’t compete with the elements on Thursday.
As the actress left her New York hotel and made her way to an awaiting car, she was struck by a huge gust of wind.
The blustery weather meant that the 23-year-old’s golden blonde locks were blown into the air, ruining her neatly plaited hairstyle.

Hayden was in fact unveiling a new makeover after having the tips of her tresses dyed purple.
Sadly for the Nashville star the humorous nature of her hair being blown all over the place managed to draw attention away from her new ‘do.
Hayden let out a gasp at one point, but appeared to be a good sport and was evidently supressing a laugh as she hopped into her vehicle.

The Heroes alumna had gone for a sophisticated look for her day out, in a black coat and silver strappy sandals.
But no doubt she had been feeling the cold in the Big Apple as she decided to bare her slender legs.

Hayden recently travelled to New York from Los Angeles, where she was seen promoting Nashville, in which she plays rising star Juliette Barnes, at PaleyFest over the weekend.

She told Deadline earlier this year of her role: 'I love the fact that this character that Callie Khouri created is so multidimensional; there’s so many layers to her.
'But this was a big deal for me because I really wanted to break away from my character in Heroes.
'I’m so deeply blessed that I got to play that character, don’t get me wrong, but I knew after that character it would be an uphill battle for people to see me as anything besides the all-American cheerleader.'
